# Get Started

Before using the Windows application's main features (such as banning and unbanning), you'll need to fill out some information on the Settings page that are required to make the app work successfully.

### The API Key

The API Key is a Key that Roblox's Open Cloud system uses for most HTTP requests such as the banning and unbanning (using the UserRestrictions) and getting a player's information (such as the username and display name through the User GET request)

### The Universe ID

The Universe ID is a unique ID for a game that is only accessible to the developers. Since this type of ID is only accessible to the developers, you can only get an Universe ID from the Creator Dashboard and from a game you own or work on.

To get or make one:

### Make an API Key

Go to the [**Creator Dashboard**](https://create.roblox.com/), 

On the left press the Open Cloud section and click *API Keys.* Then, press *Create API Key* and fill out the Name field. Scroll down, and add the users and user-restrictions permission with also other required fields (on the **users** permission add the `user.advanced:read` and `user.social:read`,  and on the **user-restrictions** permission add the `universe.user-restriction:read` and `universe.user-restriction:write`). After filling out every required field, scroll down and press *Save Changes To Key.* **Remember to copy and save your key somewhere. If you don't, you'll have to re-generate the key every time.**

### Get a Universe ID

To get an Universe ID is quite easy, simply go to the [**Creator Dashboard**](https://create.roblox.com/), click on the game you want to ban players in, press the 3 dots and then click "Copy Universe ID". The ID will be copied to your clipboard.

### Import them to the application

Once done everything correctly, go to the Settings page on the Roblox Moderation Application and paste the API Key and Universe ID on the proper Text Boxes. Stuff will break if you switch them up.

After that, just press Save Settings and you should be good to go!
